Giving

NEW hope

A whole generation of young traumatized children is growing up inside of middle eastern refugee camps under disastrous circumstances.  It is our mission to give these children hope and a perspective. If you want to support us with our mission, we together can help these children in Lebanon and Jordan to overcome their past and become emotionally well and whole again.

There is another way:

finding

back to life

Children in refugee camps have very often experienced highly traumatic situations. When asking a refugee child to imagine their “safe place”, they draw soldiers and tanks. The Leyla project wants to guide a way out of this despair – this can well be illustrated by impressive paintings of a course participant in the Zaatari Camp …

our concept:

Strengthening

the mothers

Traumatized children can be emotionally stabilized if their mothers are able to convey them a sense of safety and trust. That is why we train female local trauma advisors. They go into the camps, strengthen the mothers and enable them to improve the mental health of their families sustainably.

LOCAL PROFESSIONALS

The experienced teams of our partner organization in Lebanon and Jordan are ready to help the children.

In March 2020, I was allowed to work with female artists from a refugee camp in Jordan. These encounters have moved me so deeply, that I absolutely wanted to strengthen the women as mothers, so that their children can have a better future.

Children in refugee camps of Lebanon and Jordan have experienced horrible bomb nights, unimaginable suffering and immeasurable loneliness. With the Leyla project we are supporting mothers, so that they can support their children in their emotional distress.

For 30 years I have been doing refugee work in Germany. The Leyla Project makes trauma support possible inside of camps in the Middle East. People gain new strength to hope and remake their life.

As someone who has been affected by war himself, I know how the traumatic experience of war can shape a person. With the Leyla Project we promote the skills of mothers, to support their own children in their inner healing. This concept has convinced me immediately.
